Basic Behemoth Edits

Proofreading is the final step in the overall editing process where a fresh set of eyes searches the manuscript for any missed errors relating to what’s normally covered in a copyedit. Proofreaders aren’t responsible for fixing the overall flow, readability, or enjoyment of a manuscript. It’s best to hire a proofreader who hasn’t previously worked on the manuscript (or potentially your developmental editor), as it’s often easier to catch mistakes when you’re not entrenched in the project.

 

As your proofreader, I’ll perform two passes and flag any issues I come across that have been missed in the previous steps of editing pertaining to copyediting guidelines and a style sheet if provided.
