Line editing takes a closer look at the manuscript, quite literally line by line, with the ultimate goal of refining and tightening up sentences as needed to improve clarity, flow, and readability. Many aspects of line editing overlap with copyediting, but should be done separately when possible due to the components that don’t overlap.

 

As your line editor, I’ll help you revise awkward sentences, clean up repetition, choose stronger words as needed, help make dialogue less stiff/formal, and flag inconsistencies, with suggestions for how to fix things via comments. Each project receives two full read throughs and you will receive a comprehensive style sheet. Formatting isn’t included.
